PEKIN, Ill. (25 News) – A former central Illinois softball coach appeared in front of a judge Monday in Tazewell County on six felony counts, including predatory criminal sexual assault of a child who was under the age of 13.
The appearance only lasted a few minutes, and Rockhold was seated in a wheelchair.
The judge ordered that Rockhold remain in jail until his next court appearance, which is scheduled for September 17th at 1:54 p.m. via Zoom.
His detention can be reconsidered at future court appearances. In addition, his defense can request a formal hearing to argue for his release.
As 25News previously reported, a probable cause affidavit alleges Rockhold had sex with a child whom he was the coach for at least 100 times over several years.
The charges in Tazewell County are in addition to the charges Rockhold faces in Woodford County, including criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, possession of child pornography, and grooming.
