PEORIA, Ill. – An investigation is underway after shots were fired near the Peoria County Courthouse Wednesday morning.
Sheriff Chris Watkins says deputies and Peoria Police responded at around 9:35 A.M.
Watkins says it was determined that the shots were fired in the roadway on Hamilton near the Jefferson Street intersection, adjacent to the courthouse. A suspect vehicle fled the scene after the shooting.
Peoria Police are leading the investigation, with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office.
