Police activity prompts brief lockdown at Morton Dist. 709 Schools

MORTON, Ill. – If you have kids in Morton District 709, you can breathe a sigh of relief.

All schools are back to normal after a brief lockdown Monday morning. At 9:30 a.m., district officials put schools into a “secure” status because of some police activity nearby. That meant getting all the kids inside and locking the doors—a standard precaution.

By 9:34 a.m., Morton Police let the district know the situation was handled, and classes went  back to their normal routine.
