PEORIA, Ill. – A new technology arriving at OSF Healthcare will help people in need of complex brain and spine surgery.
OSF announced on Monday that Saint Francis Medical Center is the first hospital in the state with the Medtronic Stealth AXiS Surgical System.
It uses AI-surgical planning and robotic-assisted technology to help with minimally invasive brain and spine procedures.
In a statement, Vice President Andrew Tsung says the goal of the technology is to reduce pain and help people recover faster.
“By combining robotic-assisted navigation, AI-powered planning and advanced imaging guidance, surgeons can plan and perform procedures with exceptional precision. This allows for more targeted, minimally invasive surgery, with the goal of reducing pain, improving safety and helping them recover and return to their lives sooner,” Tsung said.
