PEORIA, Ill. – If you’re going to burn trash in your backyard, don’t walk away from it.
The Peoria Fire Department says that’s exactly what caused a garage fire Monday afternoon on W. Wiswall Street.
The fire started behind a home, but spread quickly to a garage next door.
Crews had the fire contained in about ten minutes and kept it from spreading to any homes nearby.
One garage was a total loss, and the one next door was damaged. Total damage is estimated at $8,000.
There were no injuries reported.
