MORTON, Ill. — The victim of a fatal crash on I-74 near the Morton exit on Thursday morning has been identified.
Sixty-two-year-old Elbert Robinson of Peoria was killed in the wreck. Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley confirmed Robinson died at the scene after the crash, which happened around 5:38 a.m.
An autopsy showed Robinson died from blunt force injuries from the collision.
The Illinois State Police and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office are still working to figure out exactly what happened.
Morton Fire and Police, East Peoria Fire, and IDOT, helped the ISP handle the scene.
Eastbound I-74 near the Morton exit was closed for more than four hours for investigation and accident reconstruction.
