PEORIA, Ill. – A house will have to be torn down after a fire Monday morning in Peoria.
Peoria Fire says crews responded just before 6:15 A.M. to the area of Brons and Broadway.
The first crews on scene reported seeing heavy smoke and fire coming from the house’s first and second floors.
Another crew worked on securing neighboring homes, while Ameren was called in to secure electric and gas utility lines.
Firefighters searched the home for people inside, but it was determined the house was unoccupied.
There were no injuries, and damage is estimated at $100,000. Code enforcement determined the house needed emergency demolition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and Peoria Fire used its arson dog in the couse of the investigation.
