SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Republicans and Democrats alike have opposition in the June 28 primary election for state and federal offices, but in some regional races, mostly Republicans will have primary challengers.
Monday is the first day candidates can file for the June primary, and among the early submitters of the appropriate number of petitions were filed by incumbent 37th District State Senator Win Stoller, and fellow Republican Brett Nicklaus, a financial planner from Dixon.
Republican Darin LaHood was the only candidate on day one to file for the party’s nomination as a candidate for the new 16th Congressional District.
Republican State Senator Darren Bailey and running mate Stephanie Trussell also filed paperwork to run for governor and lt. governor.
Peoria Heights resident Danny Phelan announced officially announced his candidacy for Peoria County Board, District 9.
