PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been arrested after a sting operation where he allegedly attempted to pay for sexual acts with a purported juvenile prostitute.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 26-year-old Rahul Jonnakuti is charged with Indecent Solicitation of a Child, Traveling to Meet a Minor, and Grooming.
Prosecutors say, on Wednesday, Jonnakuti reportedly communicated with whom he believed was a 15-year-old girl, which was portrayed by an Illinois State Police officer.
Jonnakuti allegedly agreed to pay $120 for sexual acts and traveled to a Peoria hotel to meet the girl. When he arrived, Jonnakuti then reportedly was reminded of her age and again agreed to pay for the sex acts, and was then arrested.
State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos partnered with ISP and the Peoria Metropolitan Enforcement Group on the sting operation, which targeted adults exploiting children for sex crimes.
