PEORIA, Ill. – Good news at the pump this morning: gas prices in Peoria have dropped significantly.
GasBuddy says we’ve seen a drop of about 17 cents a gallon over the last week, bringing the average down to $3.94. While that’s a welcome relief compared to last month, we’re still paying about 60 cents more than we were a year ago. AAA Illinois’ price is four cents higher at $3.98.
Some stations in the Peoria area are charging as little as $3.61 and others all the way up to $4.49. That’s an 88-cent difference depending on where you pull in.
Nationally, prices for unleaded gas are averaging between $3.71 and $3.79, according to GasBuddy and AAA.
Don’t expect prices to fall much further, though. GasBuddy analysts say global supply issues—specifically turmoil hitting Russian refineries—are putting a ceiling on how much relief we’ll see at the pump. Even as oil prices shift, those international supply headaches are keeping the market tight.
