Peoria garage fire causes $30,000 damage, cause still under investigation

PEORIA, Ill. – Quick work by Peoria firefighters prevented a garage fire on N. Sheridan Road from severely damaging neighboring buildings. 

Crews found the detached garage in flames around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, with flames spreading. No one was inside the garage. 

Firefighters had the blaze knocked down in about 10 minutes before major damage could be done. 

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Damage is estimated at $30,000.
