PEORIA, Ill. – Weather from all types of seasons are in play Sunday across central Illinois.
25 News First Alert Chief Meteorologist Brian Walder says the day will start with windy and warm temperatures. It will be followed in the afternoon with showers and storms, with the chances of some being strong to severe.
Walder says the highest concerns with the afternoon storms are strong winds. A tornado risk is low, but he notes it is possible a brief spin-up could occur.
Behind the warm front, colder air will arrive that will bring snow Sunday night through Monday morning. Walder says the falling snow and strong winds will create low visibility and potentially difficult travel conditions.
Walder says only a couple inches of snow is expected to fall, but the winds will make travel treacherous into Monday morning.
25 News has designated Sunday a First Alert Weather Day for the strong storms and potential blizzard-like conditions at night.
