UPDATED 3:15 P.M.
PEORIA, Ill. – Shortly after Peoria Police reported the city’s first homicide of the year, the Peoria County Coroner identified the victim.
Coroner Jamie Harwood says 35-year-old Zachary White likely died instantly after suffereing a single stab wound.
He says an autopsy shows White suffered internal injuries that were inconsistent with life.

PEORIA, Ill. – An investigation is underway after the city of Peoria’s first homicide of the year.
Peoria Police says officers responded to the area Underhill and Russell just before 10:30 P.M. Thursday on reports of a stabbing.
Officers arrived to find a 35-year-old male on the floor of a residence with an apparent stab wound.
Life-saving measures were performed, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police currently do not have any suspects.
