PEORIA, Ill. – Alumni from near and far are returning to Bradley University this weekend for Homecoming.
Homecoming activities are scheduled to begin Friday night, with the Lighting of the “B” and fireworks at 7:00 P.M. in Olin Quad.
The university’s Libby Derry says the alumni community is made up of more than 70,000 Bradley graduates. But she adds that the weekend is for everyone in the Peoria area.
“Bradley is only as strong as Peoria, and Peoria deserves a strong Bradley as well,” Derry said. “The relationship between Bradley and Peoria is strong and we just want it to get stronger as we move forward. It is a place we want our community to come and feel comfortable, and really celebrate and have that Bradley pride.”
Derry says the university is working towards making Homecoming bigger and more special for the community.
Athletic events this weekend include the Red & White Scrimmages for men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball taking on Drake, and men’s soccer hosting Western Michigan. Bradley’s Athletics Hall of Fame Luncheon is taking place on Saturday afternoon.
Other Homecoming events include legacy family campus tours, an alumni art exhibition, and a social hour Saturday evening at Jimmy’s Bar and Grill.
