PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices are still on a downward trend in central Illinois.
GasBuddy reports an average of $3.34/g Monday in the Peoria area, down 2.4 cents in the past week. Their average is 23.1 cents lower than a month ago and 29.7 cents lower than a year ago.
The cheapest gas reported on Sunday in Peoria was $3.09/g, with the highest at $3.62/g.
AAA is reporting a $3.36/g average Monday for the Peoria-Pekin metro area, about 2.6 cents lower than last week.
GasBuddy is reporting a 7.4 cent drop in the average price of a gallon of gas statewide, reporting a $3.40/g average in Illinois on Monday.
Analysts believe the trend of lower prices could end for a little while.
“In addition to the escalation in the Middle East, hurricane season remains active, with Hurricane Milton now heading toward a likely landfall in Florida. As a result of potential evacuations, GasBuddy’s Fuel Availability tracker will remain online for areas likely to be affected by Milton,” said Patrick De Haan, GasBuddy head of petroleum analysis.
GasBuddy is reporting a national average for gas at $3.13/g on Monday, down 4.6 cents in the past week, down 11.6 cents from a month ago, and down 56.2 cents lower than one year ago.
