PEORIA Ill. – Additional resources are coming to downtown Peoria, to benefit the local at-risk youth population.
The Children’s Home Association of Illinois or “CHAIL” told 25News on Tuesday – they’ve purchased the old American Red Cross building which is located on the 300 block of West John H. Gwynn Jr. Avenue.
They plan on remodeling the building, to house several programs – such as “Good Beginnings,” “iGrow Coordinated Intake,” and “Family Connects.”
These programs support first-time and second-time caregivers from the third trimester through six weeks postpartum and will streamline access to home visiting programs for families in Peoria and Tazewell counties.
“For a long time, Children’s Home has really, honestly, just been known as the older building on Knoxville. This is an opportunity for us to expand our services downtown and really orient ourselves closer to the community that we serve,” said CEO Scurry Miller.
They hope that they can begin using the new building early next year.
