PEORIA, Ill. – A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting incident Sunday afternoon in West Peoria.
Peoria Police says four officers responded to a call regarding a violent male just after 12:30 P.M. in the area of Sherman and Western.
The man was identified as 46-year-old Donald Wilson, who police say had a warrant for a violation of an order of protection.
Wilson reportedly fled into a garage when police arrived, started a fire, and swung a shovel at officers.
Peoria Police say two officers used tasers while the other shot his firearm. Wilson died from his injuries.
Peoria Police say all four officers have been placed on critical incident leave, per department policy, and Illinois State Police are investigating.
