PEORIA, Ill. – The 47th annual St. Jude Telethon on WEEK-TV has raised a record amount of money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The telethon signed off late Saturday night with $11,659,937 raised, surpassing last year’s total of $11,094,238.
The Memphis-to-Peoria run and the 36 satellite runs held throughout the state raised $5,974,975. The Memphis-to-Peoria run alone raised $1,420,518.
The Chillicothe Police Department on Facebook said Chillicothe contributed $550,000 toward the cause.
The Chillicothe St. Jude run raised $330,000 with the remaining $220,000 coming from the Brad Wallin Memorial Tournament.
A total of $191-million dollars have been raised during the 47-year history of the telethon.
This was the 43rd year for the St. Jude Runs, which have raised a total of $88.1-million during that time.
