PEORIA, Ill. – Holiday sales increased this year according to some experts, but not as much as it did last year.
But the post-holiday shopping period might do well, at least if Northwoods Mall is any indication.
Hundreds could be seen not just returning gifts Tuesday, according to the person in charge of the mall.
“It’s not the norm, usually people are returning,” Julie Revallo, mall general manager, told 25 News. “I think people did well this year, got what they needed. I’ve seen a lot of people buying today and eating at the mall.”
Even business owners were happy with what they were seeing.
“It just feels like normal, like how it used to be before,” Roy Johnson, who owns an art store at the mall, told 25 News. “I think that’s really nice, to see people like we used to see them before.”
Other shoppers told 25 News they were so busy over the holidays, they didn’t really have time to get out and shop for themselves, so now is the perfect time to do so.
