WEST PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man is being held in jail after he allegedly shot another man in West Peoria.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says Anthony Gates, 43, was booked on charges of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of Firearm with No FOID Card, and Possession of Firearm by a Felon.
Peoria County Sheriffs Deputies were called to Mike’s Tavern on North Cedar just before midnight Saturday night, and say they discovered a male employee shot in the abdomen, with a car and a home in the area also hit by gunfire.
He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Watkins says Gates was seen walking in the area, and there was a gun found near him.
Gates remains in the Peoria County Jail pending court dates.
