PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Public School Board has approved of a district plan to employ an outside agency to provide an alternative program for elementary students.
The board Monday night approved $650,000 to spend with Ombudsman Program Alternative Services for the Kindergarten through Fourth Grade program that will be located at Trewyn School.
The district says they expect to serve at least 50 students through the program, and believes the students will have a better chance at being brought back to age-appropriate learning levels, after a year of COVID-19-caused remote learning
The district is using COVID-19 relief money to pay for the program. Two PPS board members opposed using the service.
