PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County judge has denied a motion to reduce the bond of a man who is accused of making several bomb threats to downtown Peoria’s Pere Marquette hotel earlier this year.
Court records indicate a judge Tuesday kept the bond of Val Burks, 30, at $100,000.
Burks was arrested in early February and faces three counts of Falsely Making a Terrorist Threat.
One threat allegedly was made January 19th, two more a week and a half later, either by calling them in, or by using an internet-based text-messaging service.
The judge Tuesday set a trial date of August 28th after one earlier this month was cancelled. Burks will be back in court for another hearing August 17th.
