PEORIA, Ill. — How can the City of Peoria reach it’s full potential?
Joshua Gunn, CEO of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show”, in order to make progress over the next decade, the city needs to embrace fresh ideas, new people and more business opportunities.
“We have to see ourselves for all our greatness before anyone else will see it. And, I think progress is going to require us to ditch that inferiority complex,” Gunn said.
Investing in innovation and entrepreneurship can only make Peoria’s economy stronger, Gunn said.
The Chamber of Commerce is specifically focused on creating new business opportunities throughout the city.
“I believe that a Chamber should prioritize community in our work, and community impact…particularly in communities that are most disproportionately disadvantaged,” Gunn said.
Making Peoria stronger, Gunn said, will require a more equitable economic picture…including the creation of more business opportunities for people in the city’s poorest areas like zip code 61605.
“Peoria is a fantastic place. And, we’ve all got to see that if we want to reach the next phase of our future,” Gunn said.
