WEST PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Firefighters believe the cause of a blaze at a West Peoria home Thursday evening is electrical in nature.
Crews were first called to a home on Kickapoo Terrace near Sterling around 5:15 p.m., and found heavy smoke on the second floor and attic area of the home.
A hole had to be cut into the home’s roof, officials say, in order to completely put the fire out – which they spent more than an hour trying to do.
Officials say the home’s occupant was alerted to the fire by a neighbor, and was outside and safe when firefighters arrived.
No one was hurt, and an estimated $35,000 in damage was done to the home.
