PEORIA, Ill. – The Bradley Braves women’s basketball team has its new leader.
The university announced on Friday that Marquette assistant coach Chaia Meier has been named the 11th head coach in program history.
Meier takes over for Kate Popovec-Goss, who was hired last week to be Boston College’s head coach.
Meier is a native of Normal and helped develop All Big East first team and All-Defensive Team players in her two years at Marquette.
In a statement, Bradley Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Reynolds said Meier was the “right person to lead our program forward.”
“As a Central Illinois native, she brings a strong connection to this region and a clear understanding of what it takes to excel at Bradley. Chaia has demonstrated success as both a head coach and assistant, consistently developing student-athletes and building competitive programs,” Reynolds said.
