PEORIA (25 News) – More information is being released about the driver of a semi-trailer from Creve Coeur who led police on a chase through four Central Illinois counties over the weekend.
Livingston County Sheriff’s Sgt. Sam Fitzpatrick told 25 News he tried to stop the semi for improper lane usage on southbound I-55 shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, but the semi continued on through parts of McLean, Woodford, and Tazewell Counties.
Speeds didn’t exceed the speed limit, but police used spike strips to stop the semi on westbound I-74, about three miles west of Goodfield.
The pursuit lasted about an hour, Fitzpatrick said.
51-year-old Dennis Acker of Creve Coeur was booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing and eluding police, and improper lane usage. None of the offenses are felonies.
Acker was released from jail on a notice to appear in court.
