PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been identified as the victim in a shooting Sunday night in Central Peoria.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says 20-year-old Elisha Gilbert was taken to OSF Saint Francis unresponsive and not breathing, and pronounced dead just before 9:00 P.M.
The shooting occurred in the area of Isabell and Hudson at around 8:15 P.M.
Gilbert was the driver of a vehicle in the area of Isabell and Hudson where the shooting occurred.
Harwood says Gilbert suffered multiple gunshot wounds and likely died instantly, after suffering unsurvivable internal injuries.

PEORIA, Ill. – A shooting Sunday night in Peoria is now being investigated as a homicide.
The shooting occurred in the area of Isabell and Hudson at around 8:15 P.M.
Peoria Police says the 20-year-old male driver of a vehicle that crashed into a traffic sign at Isabell and Merle suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
An 18-year-old female passenger in the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries with a gunshot wound to the arm.
Peoria Police are asking for the public’s help in the investigation. They are asking for video footage or information on suspicious persons or vehicles Sunday night.
Police are requesting information from a timeframe between 7:30 P.M. and 10:30 P.M. The area of interest is between University and Sheridan east to west, and between Hudson and Richmond north to south.
