PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters were called to the area of Western and Barker Avenues early Monday morning for a structure fire at the old KFC building.
Fire Battalion Chief Josh Martin said crews arrived around 1:40 a.m., finding heavy smoke coming from the roof. They had the fire out within 15 minutes.
A ladder truck reported a sagging roof with multiple trusses burnt through.
Fire companies from West Peoria, Bartonville, and Limestone assisted with the fire.
A fire investigator determined the cause of the fire was arson. Damage is estimated at $500,000.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
