PEORIA, Ill. – A 15-year-old boy is in custody after shots were fired near Manual High School.
Police say officers responded to a call of four shots fired around 2:23 p.m. Friday near Wiswall and Griswold.
No victims were located and the school was placed on temporary lockdown as a precaution. Although, police reported the school itself received damage, but no specifics were released.
During their investigation, the juvenile, who matched the description of a suspect, was seen running from the scene. The boy was apprehended after a brief foot chase and a weapon and other evidence were recovered along the boy’s path.
The boy was taken to the Peoria Police Department for questioning and later transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a handgun and ammunition under age 21, obstructing/resisting officers and criminal damage to property.
The investigation continues.
It was the second shooting incident near Manual High School this week. A 15-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet during a shooting near the school Wednesday.

PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria Public Schools spokeswoman says a juvenile is in custody following a shooting near Manual High School on Friday afternoon.
The spokeswoman says a firearm has also been recovered.
The district says all students and staff were kept safe inside the building during the incident, and that dismissal will proceed as normal, but delayed.

A police spokeswoman says four shots were fired just after 2:15 P.M. in the area of Wiswall and Griswold.
There are no injuries reported at this time, and police are looking for suspects.
A 15-year-old girl was injured after she was grazed by a bullet after a shooting near Manual on Wednesday afternoon.
