PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Public Schools says a normal schedule is planned for Manual High School on Thursday after a shooting incident near the school this Wednesday afternoon.
Peoria Police says the shooting injured a 15-year-old girl after eight shots were fire just before 1:45 P.M. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being grazed by a bullet.
A statement from PPS says the shooting occurred a block and a half away from Manual after early dismissal. All students were returned to the building with the street blocked off for the investigation.
Students were able to be picked up at the flower shop on Griswold and Lincoln.
“We are deeply grateful to the Peoria Police Department for their rapid and professional response. Their presence and swift action ensured the safety of our students and staff, and they continue to investigate this incident thoroughly,” Peoria Public Schools said in its statement.
PPS says counseling and support services are available for those who need it.

PEORIA, Ill. – A 15-year-old girl was injured after a shooting Wednesday afternoon near Manual High School.
Peoria Police says eight shots were fired in the area of Griswold and Wiswall just before 1:45 P.M.
Police say the teen was grazed by a bullet, and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made and no suspects identified.
The shooting remains under investigation.
