PEORIA, Ill. – The closure of a portion of Moss Avenue in Peoria highlights area road construction work beginning this week.
Moss Avenue will be closed from Western Avenue to Duryea Place, beginning Monday, for the reconstruction of the Institute Place intersection. The closure is expected to last through Saturday, Aug. 16, weather permitting.
Detour routes will utilize Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Bradley Avenue, University Street, Richard Allen Drive and Romeo B. Garrett Avenue.
Peoria County highway officials have announced resurfacing work and sidewalk improvements will begin Monday on Glasford Road from Main Street to Route 24. That work will continue through September.
Additionally, eastbound Wilhelm Road will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. Monday between Country Ridge Lane and Hunters Trail Court for the Wilhelm Bridge Channel Stabilization Project.
Eastbound traffic will shift into the shared center turn lane.
The closure will last until early fall.
