PEORIA, Ill. – There was a lot of laughter from the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday
The Civic Center says more than 18,000 people attended the two shows by comedian Nate Bargatze, setting a single-day record for the Arena. It broke the record set by Elton John in March of 1999 with 11,766.
The Civic Center says Bargatze’s evening show broke the record for the highest grossing comedy show in the Arena’s history, breaking a record set by his afternoon show earlier in the day.
“We love Nate Bargatze, and it is pure joy when he performs in Peoria,” said General Manager Rik Edgar. “It is an amazing achievement to break multiple venue records and set new standards for future shows.
It was part of a busy weekend at the Civic Center, with Shinedown performing a sold-out show in the Arena on Friday, and Seether on Thursday in the Prairie Home Alliance Theater.
