PEORIA, Ill. – The fourth blast in the demolition of the old eastbound McClugage Bridge happened late Monday night.
The demolition was supposed to happen Wednesday, but the event was bumped up due to weather concerns. The main truss of the old eastbound span fell into the Illinois River around 10:10 p.m. Monday.
Monday night’s blast was expected to be the largest of eight scheduled blasts, according to IDOT.
Road closures for the remaining demolition blasts are expected to last up to an hour.
Upcoming closures connected to the demolition schedule include:
Eastbound US 150 from IL 29 to IL 116.
Westbound US 150 from IL 116 to IL 29
Ramps from IL 116 to US 150 to westbound US 150
Lorentz Avenue from IL 29 to the Illinois River.
Security perimeters will be set up around the blast areas ahead of the remaining demolition events.
Personal drones must be at least 1000 feet north of the bridge, and 300 feet above the demolition site.
