PEORIA Ill. – The man found guilty in November for assaulting his former girlfriend, in Peoria, will spend the next seven years behind bars.
According to the Illinois State’s Attorney’s Office, 35-year-old Kendall Drummond was sentenced Friday, to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
He was found guilty this past November by a Peoria County Jury of Aggravated Domestic Battery.
In August 2024, police responded to an area hospital regarding an earlier assault.
Upon arrival, the officers discovered the victim, Drummond’s then-girlfriend, who had a broken orbital bone, some of her teeth knocked out, her nose broken, and she received several stitches to her eye.
She now has permanent nerve damage to her face.
The victim reported she was punched in the face several times by Drummond.
Although the State requested a lengthy prison sentence, the victim said she refused to “pollute my heart with bitterness,” and forgave Drummond and asked the court to sentence him to five years in prison.
The courts ruled that Drummond must serve 85% of his sentence.
