PEORIA Ill. – One individual was arrested on Tuesday, for allegedly trying to break into a person’s vehicle — and firing a weapon.
According to Peoria Police, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of West Butler on a ShotSpotter alert of one round being fired.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male who told police two males were attempting to break into his vehicle.
One of the subjects then fired one shot — no one was injured.
Both males immediately fled on foot.
A short time later — officers located two males matching the description of the suspects in the 600 block of Blaine Street.
Both suspects fled on foot.
After a brief foot chase, one of the subjects identified as 18-year-old JiMichael Brown was apprehended
During the arrest, officers located a semi-automatic handgun on the ground next to Brown, as well as a magazine on his person, along with burglary tools.
The handgun was reported stolen.
The second suspect was not found.
