FULTON COUNTY, Ill. – An Ipava man accused of shooting a Canton man in the head and killing him on New Year’s Eve must remain in the Fulton County Jail.
25 News reports 33-year-old Nicholas Pratt was ordered held until trial after a detention hearing Thursday. He is charged with First Degree Murder in the death of 39-year-old Levi Blair.
The shooting occurred Tuesday evening at the Lewistown County Market.
Prosecutors say Pratt’s wife, Annabelle, was with Blair to hand off her two children. She was also described as Blair’s lover.
Blair was reportedly recording the exchange on his phone in the passenger seat.
Annabelle was placing the kids in the backseat of the car and left a side door open, when Nicholas allegedly approached the vehicle and shot Blair in the head.
Nicholas then reportedly drove himself and the kids to the sheriff’s office and confessed to shooting someone, but claimed to not remember anything from the incident.
Prosecutors say Annabelle filed two orders of protection against Nicholas, but were not active. They say Nicholas is an Army veteran who retired in September after 17 years of service and has PTSD with medication to treat it, but Annabelle said he does not take it.
Nicholas Pratt is due back in court on January 13th.
