PEORIA, Ill. – A Wyoming man has pleaded guilty for his role in a head-on crash in May that killed a Dunlap High School student.
Court records show 25-year-old Levi Dietz pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of Wrong Way on Divided Highway, and was sentenced to 100 hours of community service.
Dietz was one of the drivers involved in the May 4th crash just before 11:45 P.M. near the Louisville Slugger Complex on Orange Prairie Road.
His vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, when it and a vehicle from 18-year-old Neveah Mitchell of Princeville hit head-on.
Mitchell was killed in the crash.
25 News reports Dietz’ attorney testified that he was not under the influence of any substance at the time of the crash. Peoria Police stated a month after the crash that lighting, speed, nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
