TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. – The identity of a Pekin woman who died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning near South Pekin has been released.
Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley says 62-year-old Christie Campbell suffered multiple blunt force injuries due to the crash. A preliminary autopsy on Campbell was finished Friday.
Campbell was the sole person in a Toyota passenger car that crashed with a semi-truck trailer just before 10:00 A.M. at Illinois Route 29 and Thompson Street.
Hanley says Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene at around 10:30 A.M.
The crash remains under investigation by Illinois State Police, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s and Sheriff’s Offices.
