PEORIA, Ill. – Prices at the pump in the Peoria area are about the same as this time one week ago.
GasBuddy reports an average price of $3.66/g for unleaded on Monday.
Although it’s up a little more than a half-cent in the past week, it’s around eight cents higher than a month ago and six cents higher than one year ago.
The cheapest price in Peoria on Sunday was $3.39/g, with the most expensive at $3.89/g.
AAA is also reporting a $3.66/g average in the Peoria-Pekin metro area, unchanged from last week. But its average is about six cents higher than one month ago, and five cents higher than one year ago.
Prices across the state are increasing, with GasBuddy reporting an average price of $3.83/g, up 6.5 cents in the past week. AAA is reporting an Illinois average of $3.85/g, up nearly six cents in the past week and more than 8.5 cents than one year ago.
Analysts say prices did not change much across the country after Hurricane Beryl last week. But GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis Patrick De Haan says gas prices will be a mixed bag for the next few weeks.
“For now, we’ll continue to see small price fluctuations as we await news of any hurricane-fueled refinery disruptions or other supply challenges as we head into the busiest weeks of the summer travel season,” De Haan said.
Nationally, GasBuddy says the average increased 2.5 cents in the past week to $3.49/g. The national average is up more than five cents from one month ago, but nearly six cents lower than one year ago.
