PEORIA, Ill. — One person is injured in the wake of a fire that struck at home in Peoria late Friday.
Fire crews say they responded to the home near West Kneer Avenue and West Krause Avenue on Peoria’s south side a little after 3:45 p.m.
At the scene, Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rada said there were initial calls that two people may have been trapped inside the home at the time of the fire.
Firefighters say they found one person inside the basement of the home.
That person was taken to a Peoria hospital. Their condition is unknown, but Rada said the person was not responsive when they were pulled out of the house.
It’s not known exactly where inside the house flames first sparked, but crews were faced with difficult circumstances as high wind intensify the flames more quickly.
Several extra crews were called in to assist.
This is a developing story and will be updated with the very latest from the Peoria Fire Department once we receive updated information.
