PEORIA, Ill. — A 20-year-old man is under arrest for a fatal shooting in Peoria that happened in July.
19-year-old De’Monyae Zaire Phelps, of Peoria, was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle in the 300 block of S. Shelley Street on July 20.
On Wednesday, the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division and the U.S. Marshals Task Force took 20-year-old Marvin Alexander into custody without incident in the 3400 block of N. Gale Avenue.
Alexander faces a first degree murder charge and is being held in the Peoria County Jail.
Phelps’ death was Peoria’s 18th of 34 homicides this year.
Police are still investigating the case.
