PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man accused of killing a woman and leaving her body inside a home set on fire has pleaded not guilty.
Court records indicate Tahir Goodman, 28, pleaded not guilty Monday. A grand jury filed charges against Goodman including First-Degree Murder and Aggravated Arson for the December 1 death of J’Naysia Hobbs, 24.
Our news partner 25 News reports during the hearing, Goodman asked to view evidence gathered in the case, and also wanted to speak to Peoria Police detectives regarding evidence. The evidence won’t be ready until after the holidays, and both the judge and public defender told Goodman he should not speak to detectives.
A hearing in the case is scheduled for March third, with a trial set to begin as soon as March 14th.
