Peoria, Ill — A man blamed for this week’s house-fire-turned-homicide in Peoria’s East Bluff will remain jailed on $2 million bond.
28-year-old Tahir Goodman went up for a bond hearing on Friday.
He’s charged with killing 24-year-old L’Naysia Hobbs and then torching an East Virginia Avenue home to cover up the killing.
Charges are filed as first-degree murder and arson.
During Friday’s hearing, we learned Goodman reportedly admitted to police following his arrest — that he put his arm across Hobbs’ neck during an argument.
Goodman claims he did not intend to kill the woman in that moment.
Firefighters found Hobbs body inside the burned-out home at 1021 E. Virginia shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday while responding to a working house fire.
Coroners had to used dental records to make a positive I.D. on the woman since her body was so badly burned in the fire.
Hobbs body was reportedly found in the room where the fire started.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page is now set up to help Hobbs’ family afford memorial expenses.
