PEORIA, Ill. (25 NEWS) — Hundreds came out to “FOLEPI” Saturday to celebrate the start of the holiday season.
The East Peoria Festival of Lights Parade returned for its 37th year, and it featured dozens of floats and more than a million total lights.
East Peoria spokesperson Jill Peterson says the event was a rousing success, and it was great to see so much of the community together.
“It brings Christmas not only to East Peoria, but the entire Central Illinois community,” Peterson said. “We have people who came as little kids who are now bringing their own kids and in some cases their grandkids. So it’s really become a generational festival.”
FOLEPI continues with the drive-thru light display off Springfield Road, lasting until January 2. It’s open starting at 5 p.m. nightly beginning Thursday.
